CASTELLARE WINERY

Castellare in Castellina is an ancient winery in Castellina in Chianti. Located in the heart of Chianti Classico, Castellina in Chianti, and is situated in the hills of a natural amphitheater to the south-east. Since 1979,it is owned by Paolo Panerai. A census of the grapes, undertoken immediately after the purchase of the company, allowed the selection of the best qualities of Sangioveto, the noble native version of the Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera, a variety that gives a special character to the wines of Castellare. Here lay the roots of the many achievements of the company, thanks to a constant research and discovery of old habits, traditions and a scientific treatment of all stages of production.

THE TOUR INCLUDES:
Guided tour of the winery, vineyards (weather permitting), the “vinsantaia” and the library of Castellare with detailed explanation of each stage of production and of the aging and refining of the wines. The tour concludes with a tasting of three kinds of wine made from Sangiovese grapes, which made the company great: Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva and the award-winning supertuscan I Sodi di San Niccolo.
On request the tasting can be accompanied by a tasting of Tuscan salami and cheeses.
You can also buy directly from the farm all products (wine, oil, vinegar, grappa) of Castellare di Castellina.
